About a month ago my family and I took a mini Christmas vacation to Puerto Rico. I have waited so long to post this because the whole time I was there I took photographs on my 35mm Film Camera and was waiting to get the photos back from processing, but in an unfortunate turn of events NONE of those photos turned out. They were all ruined. At first I was really upset and angry about the situation, mainly because I was really excited to see how they had all turned out. Although they did not turn out it reminded me why I love film so much, the surprise. It is exciting not knowing what you're going to end up with, even if you end up with nothing. I still have those moments and snapshots in my memory and that is all that really matters to me. I did still take some photos with my iphone so those are the photos I will be posting today!
We stayed at the Hilton El San Juan Casino and Resort which was a beautiful hotel. They had a pool and a gorgeous beach.
One of the best places to visit in Puerto Rico is Old San Juan. We were about a 20 minute drive from there so we hoped in a cab to check it out. Old San Juan is full of brightly colored houses, Historic Monuments, and plenty of art galleries. The restaurants are also divine. It has become one of the main hubs of Puerto Rican dinning on the island.
The last place we went on our trip was El Yunque National Forest. We had tried to rent a car to go see the rainforest but all the cars were booked up for that week so we ended up taking a tour through the hotel. I would recommend if you are going to plan on visiting the rainforest to get your own car. While the tour was lovely I would have liked being able to see everything on my own terms. Even so it was one of the best experiences of my life and I will remember it for a long time to come.
Overall it was a superb trip and I would love to go back someday and see some more of the magical island.
